About itype
Our Story and Mission
itype4school was created with a clear purpose: to teach primary school students essential keyboard skills that form the foundation of digital literacy. In an era where typing is integral to learning, students need more than just basic computer access, they need keyboard competence, fluency, and automaticity. As research shows from 1989, two and a half decades ago, the message is still the same however, now that we rely on digital devices, it is even more important to teach our students this important life skill of touch typing.

The program aligns with the requirements of the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), ensuring that by Year 5, students meet curriculum expectations for keyboard skills. itype students consistently achieve these outcomes through a structured, evidence-based approach.
Our Mission
Our mission is to equip every primary school student in Australia with the keyboard skills needed for modern learning in this digital world that is evolving everyday.
Empower Students
We focus on building confidence, speed, and accuracy, ensuring students develop the process of automaticity when using a keyboard, so they can focus on content rather than mechanics.
Support Teachers
itype provides teacher dashboards, progress tracking, and reporting to make every classroom easier to manage with accountability and assessment criteria aligning with the Australian Curriculum
Align With Curriculum
The itype program meets ACARA standards, supporting digital literacy and ensuring students are prepared for online learning in all learning areas of the curriculum. They are confident to engage with online assessments such as NAPLAN Online and beyond.
Our Journey
itype began as a response to a gap in Australian classrooms: students were expected to type efficiently without ever being taught how. Recognising this need, the founder developed a program that is engaging, structured, and classroom-ready.
From Concept to Classroom
The journey started with research, curriculum alignment, and pilot programs. Over time, itype evolved based on teacher and student feedback and student performance, ensuring it remained practical, engaging, relevant, effective, and scalable across schools.
